At Breakdown, Jake Starr's goal of making a definitive case of why he should be the number one contender for the Women's Championship seemed to fall a little short. Jake was rolled up and pinned, which ultimately was followed by Ravyn Taylor being apparently injected into the match at Rise to Greatness instead. It was a moment that gave Jake a slight moment of dejection because Jake really felt that he had a legitimate shot at being put in that match. It was, however, a moment that didn't last long. Jake was able to move on, and simply shift his focus to whatever comes next, knowing that there will be opportuntiies in the future.
As Jake and Thoren finish packing up all of their gear from the evening, they slowly make their way out of the locker room. As Jake and Thoren make their way out of the building, Jake's eye is caught by one of the production monitors in the back, showing the match between Thomas Valentine and Regan Street about to go down. This triggers a memory in Jake's mind about something heard from Tommy that he has been curious about. He decides to show a little support to his friend by stopping his exit from the building, and watching the match as a symbol of support. Thoren stands and watches as well, and a moment flashes by the screen that seems insignificant to Thoren, but super significant to Jake. It's a moment that makes Jake feel a bit uneasy, especially coupled with the remarks he heard earlier in the week. Rather than being passive aggresive about the situation, Jake figures he'll talk to Tommy man to man.
As the match slowly winds to its conclusion, Thoren figures that everything has happened that is going to, and begins to walk off. Jake stands there, watching the monitor intently. Thoren gets several steps ahead, and realizes he's alone. He turns and walks back to Jake, tapping him on the arm.
Thoren Holt: ... So, ready to go? We have everything basically loaded in the car.
Jake Starr: Yeah... I'm just about ready... I just need to do something first, before we go.
Thoren Holt: Oh?
Jake Starr: Yeah, I need to talk to Tommy, first...
Thoren Holt: About anything major?
Jake Starr: You know, I'm not quite sure. I think I just need to make sure that he and I are on the same page.
Thoren cocks an eyebrow, a bit suspicious.
Thoren Holt: Did something happen that I don't know about?
Jake Starr: Honestly, I don't know. I've heard and seen some things that just have me a little confused. So I figure I need some answers that only Tommy can give, and now is just as good a time as any to get them.
Thoren is quite confused and concerned.
Thoren Holt: Umm... Ok...
As the camera shows Tommy's match ends, Jake looks over at Thoren.
Jake Starr: Alright... Just head to the car and wait, while I go find Tommy. It shouldn't take long to get the answers I want, and then we can head out.
Thoren Holt: Alright... If anything happens, or you need me, just shoot me a text and I'll be right there...
Jake Starr: Sounds good... The same goes for you, too.
Thoren nods, and heads off in the direction of the parking lot, while Jake goes in the opposite direction, toward Tommy's dressing room. As Tommy comes around the corner, he is reeling from his tough fought match with Regan. He sees Jake leaning against the wall, and the two immediately make eye contact. Jake is quick to make conversation with his fellow, former, Brotherhood, member.
Jake Starr: ... Well our night has been kind of shitty, don't you think?
Tommy smirks.
Tommy Valentine: I would say it definitely hasn't gone as intended for either of us, that's for sure.
Tommy opens the door to his dressing room, and begins walking in.
Jake Starr: May I come in?
Tommy Valentine: I'm surprised you actually asked. I figured you were just going to follow me in...
Jake Starr: Yeah... Well... The whole "courteous" thing is part of my 12 step program I'm in...
Tommy chuckles again. As the two walk in, Jake shuts the door behind him. Tommy takes a seat in front of his locker, and looks back in Jake's direction.
Tommy Valentine: ... So what's up, man?
Jake Starr: Honestly, I just wanted to swing by and make sure we're on the same page...
Tommy looks at Jake confused.
Tommy Valentine: On the same page about what? I mean, as far as I know we have been on the same page about everything, so far. So why are you asking?
Jake Starr: Honestly... I'm curious because of some of the things that I've seen and heard you do and say lately...
Tommy cocks an eyebrow.
Tommy Valentine: Umm... I'm sorry?
Jake Starr: I am serious. I mean... I get it... I know you and David are still BFFs, and all. I get that he and Regan are happily married. But the fact is, Regan and I don't have the most friendliest relationship together. And let's be real... In SCW, when it comes to she and I, things won't be all hunky dory if and when our paths ever cross again. So it doesn't really give me a lot of "warm fuzzies" to hear you saying you'd "pick family" and then go out on national TV and have some kind of little "buddy buddy" moment with her. It makes me kind of wonder if you and I are really seeing everything the same way, and...
Before Jake can continue, Tommy cuts him off, stands up, and scolds Jake immediately.
Tommy Valentine: STOP! Right now, Jake... Just cut all of this bullshit out! You're stepping WAY out of line, right now!
Jake Starr: How so? I came to you because I wanted someone to help me take the right steps to get everything back to normal. You and I have BOTH had to entrust one another to make it work, and come together like we were in the past. So how is it out of line for me to see the guy who I'm trusting with my LIFE out there...
Tommy approaches Jake in a confrontational manner, cutting him off again.
Tommy Valentine: Just SHUT UP! You're walking a very, VERY, fine line, right now. I was ABUNDANDTLY clear to EVERYONE that if anybody put me in a position where I had to pick between business and family, I'd pick family EVERY TIME! I wouldn't hesitate to make that call ANY DAY of the week, Jake...
Jake fires right back.
Jake Starr: So what am I, then, Tommy?! You were the one who turned on me, first, and in the end, I still looked at you like a fucking brother. So what am I to you now? Am I just some "business associate" to you? That's not why I came to you, Tommy. I have been fucking CRYSTAL CLEAR about wanting to get my FAMILY back, and that includes EVERYONE. I get it, Tommy, I get it that there is a split between business and personal lives, but if you're not looking at me as family, too, then we need to make that abundantly clear NOW.
What I see is someone who hates my guts, and someone I love like a brother, showing one another a little too much friendliness for my comfort and ALL I WANT TO KNOW is if we are on the same page.
Tommy goes to reply, but begins to actually hear what Jake is saying. Jake continues, as his emotional side begin to become even more open with his words.
Jake Starr: ... And I'm not asking you to pick a side, man. I'm not dumb enough to put you in that type of situation. I just don't want the same thing to happen to me like the last time this similar situation played out.
Tommy is a bit confused as to what Jake is referencing.
Tommy Valentine: What do you mean?
Jake Starr: Tommy, the last time someone started getting closer to someone who loathed and hated me, next thing that happened was you and David gave me the boot. Zoe and David had grown close to one another, and I was just cast aside, and thrown to the wolves. I just don't want that happening again, man. And trust me, I know that you're loyal to David, first and foremost, and I respect that. The LAST thing I want to do, right now, is upset either of you. I just want to make sure that, when it comes to business, I can trust you.
Tommy begins to understand Jake's issue, stemming from a business level, and not personal.
Tommy Valentine: Listen, man... There is that divide we all have between business and pleasure. Right now, you just need to understand that, and understand that I respect the divide. I believe you, when you're saying you don't want me to have to make a "choice," but you also need to understand, though, that if there is EVER a point where I'm forced to pick one, I'll have to pick family.
Jake nods slowly.
Jake Starr: In that case, just remember that I look at you like you're family, and if you see me the same way, then all I ask is that you opt to not choose at all. Instead, simply let family hash it out with family. I'm giving you my WORD that I'll never make you choose between family members, period, and...
Jake, which has become the norm of the day, is interrupted again. This time, it's not by Tommy, but instead the sounds of the door to the dressing room flying open, and Thoren Holt running in, obviously winded. Jake and Tommy both look at Thoren with a look of confusion and concern. Thoren immediately looks at Jake, and speaks with an obvious sense of urgency.
Thoren Holt: Jake... Jake... Jake... We have to go... Now!
Jake's attention fully shifts from the familial issue with Tommy, to whatever Thoren has come in with.
Jake Starr: What's going on? What's wrong?
Thoren Holt: It's... It's Roeper! She's been in an accident. She just called, said she's OK, but something, as she said, "not right," just happened.
Tommy, harboring no ill=will toward Roeper, too, grows concerned with the situation. He immediately reaches out and touches Jake on the shoulder. Jake turns and sees the look of concern in his friend's eyes.
Tommy Valentine: Go! We can talk more later, I promise... Remember... Family first...
Jake looks and realizes the poignant message Tommy just gave him in more ways than one. Jake simply responds by nodding, and turns back to Thoren.
Jake Starr: C'mon, let's go!
With those words, Jake and Thoren rush out of Tommy's dressing room, toward their awaiting vehicle. Tommy follows them as far as the door to his dressing room, watching them bolt off. His look of concern is indicative of how he feels about Jake and Roeper, and he slowly closes the door hoping that, for one, Roeper is truly OK. He is also hopeful that Jake's words were sincere, where he explained wanting to know from a business standpoint, if they were on the same page. While it may not be an "identical page," it is one where there is enough understanding where it should not present a problem in the future.
Jake Starr: I think it is safe to say that Breakdown didn't go like I would have hoped. Simply put, I got caught. I got caught, and it cost me. I got rolled up, I got pinned, and ultimately, I think it hurt my ultimate goal of being the NUMBER ONE CONTENDER for the Women's Championship. Why do I say that? Why would I think that one match would have that detrimental of an impact on MY DREAMS?!
Simply put... Ravyn Taylor!
See, later on in the show, if people weren't paying attention, Ravyn injected herself into the match that I was born to be in. Why? BECAUSE LADY GAGA TOLD ME I WAS BORN THIS WAY DAMMIT!
Jake begins to "calm" himself down.
I'm ok... No really... But there is a major problem with this. For one, ONE MATCH shouldn't take my chances away. I have been on FIRE this year and I truthfully believe that I deserve the chance to become THE ONE AND ONLY, in the HISTORY of Supreme Championship Wrestling, to accomplish it all. One match shouldn't derail that opportunity. But Ravyn being injected in seems to have proved that argument wrong. Ravyn being in the Women's Championship match seems to suggest that that one match derailed me. And I have a problem with that. I have a problem with feeling like Jake Starr walks on egg shells.
But I have a bigger problem... And this one is the one that, honestly, I feel the world should consider, when hearing my argument. And I'll be honest when I say that this is the one that, I believe, justifies SCW changing it's mind...
I CALLED DIBS FIRST!
That's right, everyone. See, we're all old enough to know that WHOMEVER calls dibs, gets first crack at whatever the situation is. In the case of Rise to Greatness, I called dibs on the Women's Title match, therefore, I am the rightful person to be in it. SCW knows that the "dibs system" has been a DEFINITIVE method in securing places in line for CENTURIES, and this situation is no different. Ravyn wasn't even in the mix when dibs were called, and so there are probably several who got in line behind me, after I was the first dibs caller.
So, with that being said, I expect SCW to do the right thing. It does NOT want to get caught up in the messes that come when violating the rules of the "dibs system," and so hopefully they don't test me. Hopefully they adhere to the longstanding rules because, they've seen the type of lawyers I can bring in to fight for my rights. So D... Board of Dictators... Make it so! Or else... I know I can find some "dibs" lawyers who would happily represent me. That's not a threat! Those lawyers on the commercials are the REAL DEAL, BABY!!!
Jake smirks.
Not let me be serious, here... I'm not going to shit on Ravyn Taylor's capabilities. Her and Sienna will put on a great match. They are both talented women, but the fact is, I believe I do have a right to be in that match. It's not a game to me... It's not for funsies... It's something that I truly want to do, and figure it would be a hell of a moment for SCW. If it doesn't happen, which it doesn't look like it is going to, then I hope they both realize that it is just a matter of time before I get that chance. Like everyone knows, I still have my Trios contract. I still have the ability to MAKE it happen, whether anyone likes it or not. And I'll admit... It's PART of my ultimate plan, but it's not the WHOLE THING. My master plan for that contract si something that everyone is going to have to wait for. I'll say that it may seem "similar" to what has happened, but let's just say, it'll be a much more successful outing for me.
So Ravyn... Sienna... I hope you both know that, regardless of whether or not Jake Starr is going to be in that match with you at Rise to Greatness, the winner will have to stare me down eventually. You'll have to defend that Women's Championship against Jake Starr one day, and that day will be the day when HISTORY is made, and everyone will recognize my contribution to this industry and this organization. But until then... You're safe. You're both lucky.
That is more than I can say about a certain young lady, who I have been YEARNING for the day that our paths crossed again.
Yep... Vixen Cain's bitch-ass is officially coming my way again, and it's something that is a long time coming! You see, the last time that our paths crossed, it was a moment that was stolen from me. See, Vixen and her lady parts were going to be the moment that, at that moment, put Jake Starr in a class that nobody else was in. That was going to be the night where Jake Starr became the United States Champion, AGAIN, and cement himself one of the true G.O.A.Ts in the history of Supreme Championship Wrestling.
But she...
Thoren's voice comes from off camera.
Thoren Holt: HE!
Jake's attention turns from the camera lens to "past" it, too address Thoren himself.
Jake Starr: Oh for fuck's sake... We're not doing this again, are we?
Thoren Holt: I'm just sayin...
Jake just shakes his head, and looks back at the camera.
Jake Starr: Ok... Where was I?
OH YES... SHE!
Instead of "nutting up" like she would have, if she were actually the "man" she claims to be, and facing me like a champion, she low-balled me, literally. She kicked me in the nuts, and took the cheap way out. She showed herself to be a complete chicken-shit of a champion. Now, the reason that this pissed me off, and is something I have DESPERATELY been waiting for the chance to rectify, is because with the United States Championship, especially if your name is Jake Starr, you're given the chance to earn your shot at the belt once in a blue moon. You win, you're theoretically the champion. You lose, you're in the back of the line.
In my case, I won, wasn't crowned champion, and was sent to the back of the line!
Do you know how that feels? Do you know what it feels like to know you bestest the champion, and yet, you don't have anything to show for it? Do you know how it feels to know that the champion actually had to RUN AWAY from you because they knew they couldn't beat you, but they still hold the championship?
Well I do... And she knows it, too!
So when she lost the championship, ait wasn't enough for me. It wasn't a moment that made me feel vindicated, simply because I knew that she had gotten her just due. I still felt robbed, and I still wanted to take her down. I still wanted to show her what would have happened if she had opted to actually prove that she had a pair of gonads between her legs, and stuck our first match out.
Now I have that chance! Now I have that opportunity! Vixen Cain is walking into my domain, and giving me another chance to prove that I should be in the running for a Women's Championship match.
And I plan on PROVING just that!
Jake's tone becomes even more serious.
Vixen... You and I both know how scared you were that night. You and I both know how the realization that the United States Title leaving your waist was going to become a reality. As it became more of a reality for you, you panicked. Fear took over your entire body. You couldn't fathom the thought of having to walk out of that arena as a FORMER champion, so you decided to take the cheap way out. You did it, and you laughed all the way to the back. You thought it was going to KEEP that belt around your waist for an elongated period of time, thinking that I was the last major stepping stone in your path for a while. But what you did to me that night ultimately brought the wrath of karma upon you, and you LOST. You lost, and I ended up becoming even more SUPREME than you will ever be... You ultimately stopped nothing, and simply did what you felt you had to do to save FACE!
Well listen up closely, bitch-tits... There won't be any of that bullshit happening this time!
You see, when you step through those ropes, you won't have an IOTA of time to even contemplating taking the cheap or easy way out. You won't be given a modicum of space to breathe. This moment has been something I have CRAVED, since you wronged me, and I am not going to let it simply go by the wayside as "just another match." This match is my RETRIBUTION, and my RIGHTING of the ultimate wrong of 2017. Because like it or not, I know you're going into this match scared. I know you're going into this match worried. I know you realize how much is on the line for you as well. You were a FORCE, for a long time. You ascended to the top of the mountain, but that fall from grace has been EPIC. You were the EMBARASSEMENT of a champion for a minute, but were fortunate enough to find more success.
Now I'm reminding everyone of what you truly are!
See, I recognize your successes. I recognize you have achieved a lot. But the fact is, you sense failure and when you did, you pussyfooted your way out, rather than leaving on your shield, like a TRUE CHAMPION. So while people may think you were still a "success," I look at you as the CHEAT that you are deep down. This fall from grace is opening other's eyes as well, and you know that more losses will continue to make more and more people see you for who you really are. You'll realize that the wool is no longer being pulled over the eyes of the masses. You'll realize hope is becoming lost. Vixen... You're falling into that realm we have all faced. We've all ascended to the top, only to have the fall be greater than the rise. But unlike many, and unlike you, I am back on the climb. I am on my way to people realizing that I am BACK. I'm on my way to people saying that Jake Starr is the "back from the dead" star of 2017, or whatever they call it. And yeah, I slipped up at Breakdown, but unlike you right now, one loss isn't going to define me. That one loss won't distract me from what I am GOING to accomplish in 2017.
But you... You don't have that comfort... You're already being forgotten. You're already becoming an afterthought. But know that, at least until Wednesday, you'll have been front and center in my mind since the day you fucked me over.
Face it, bitch... For you, this is just a match. For me, this might as well have a championship attached to it because this is the moment I FINISH what I started, when we faced off. It means THAT much to me. Now, can you say that? Can you say that this match really MEANS that much? You should. You should realize WHO I AM, and what it could doto remedy your downward spiral. But your lack of forethought and mental capacity doesn't give me high hopes for that actually happening. Instead, I expect you to do much of what you did the last time. I expect you to come in, and when faced with the realization that it's about to end badly, I expect you to TRY and find a way to skirt out, and save face. But like I said, that won't be an option. You're going to face me. The match WILL go to its completion. And you WILL know what it's like to have Jake Starr soaring through the sky, only to land across your weak and feeble torso, and hear the referee count ONE... TWO... THREE!
The writing's on the wall, "girlfriend..." You just get to make a decision whether you want to lose like someone with a pair of testes, like you claim to have, or like the whiny, little, scared, BITCH, that you have proven yourself to actually be.
The choice is yours, Girl's Name... Man up... Or puss out... Again...
Oh, and be sure to wear that sexy dress I saw you modeling for Merrick the other day. Or were you trying to win him back? I can't keep up with your little love tryst between you and Zorro... But nevertheless... The world should not be deprived of that sight!
