When Jake Starr was confronted by his wife to finally just be himself, it was a moment that truly became a turning point for Jake Starr. It was a moment that told Jake that he could finally not have to worry about walking into his own home and feeling awkward around his own family. It was a moment that truly gave him the peace of mind that he could be himself at home and on the road, and not feel judged.

After being talked to by Roeper, Jake was met by his fellow Social Misfits and told to simply cut a promo and be himself. Again, words he was happy to hear, but at the same time after speaking his mind, a sense of worry came over him. The words he spoke were very calculated to insult SCW in many different ways, and in doing so, exposed him for the angry human being that he is deep down. He showed the world his animosity for the ideals that SCW has embraced, and in doing so worried that they may not reflect as positively at home as it would have been if he had just lambasted the world.

Nevertheless, he spoke from the heart, and in the back of his mind questioned what repercussions he'd face.

In his career in wrestling, anytime he's opened his mouth and verbally assaulted people in the manner he did SCW, it's reflected poorly on him at home. Roeper has often tried to talk sense into Jake, trying to make him realize that he doesn't have to be so angry and so verbally violent, but instead could be more constructive with his criticism, and fought for change in a less destructive manner. He knew he didn't abide by those principles when he insulted the Adrenaline Championship, and the decision making of upper management, and he didn't care at the time. The unfortunate thing is, hindsight is 20/20, and Jake's conscious occasionally peaks into his life.

As he's flown home from Rise to Greatness, his mind has been plagued wondering exactly what he has in store for him when he walks in that front door. He wonders if Roeper will be there to grill him, or chastise him. He wonders if Mara will somehow have been influenced to try and get him to do things in an alternate manner. He feels constant senses of the unknown surrounding him as he gets in his waiting vehicle, and heads home. He drives through the streets of Des Moines, taking longer routes than normal, worrying that he's in for a difficult time under his own roof yet again. He also knows that Roeper's attitude continually changes when he has lost matches, versus when he has won, and since he hasn't been in his home since he lost at Rise to Greatness, more uncertainty surrounds him.

Will she be awkward?

Will she be angry?

In his mind, his promo for Rise to Greatness was yet another moment for Roeper to judge him, and potentially look down upon him. It's a feeling he hates feeling, and has always hated, even when he was perceived as the "good guy" in professional wrestling. As he turns onto his street, he feels a growing lump in his throat, worrying abotu what is to be expected. Pulling into his driveway, this lump grows to the size of a basketball, and he doesn't know what to expect. This worry is elevated when he sees one of the curtains in one of the windows move, making him believe someone inside had been keeping an eye out for his eventual arrival. The suspicions of being "stalked" are confirmed when the front door swings open, and Mara comes running outside, directly toward the parked car, to greet Jake. Jake's put at ease, and opens the driver's door and smiles. Mara doesn't let him out, but instead jumps into the car, into his lap, and embraces him. Roeper slowly emerges at the front door as well, having seen Jake pull in, and knowing that Mara was running out simply to greet her father.

As Mara sits in Jake's lap, inside the car, she looks at him with her innocent smile.

Mara Jade Hart: Daddy, are you home for good?

Jake smiles.

Jake Starr: Yes, baby girl... I am... I'll only be gone when I have to go to work, like normal...

Mara Jade Hart: Do you promise? No more long times gone?

Jake Starr: I promise... No more running away for long period of time!

Mara smiles.

Mara Jade Hart: Yay!!!

She embraces Jake tightly around the neck, effectively cutting off Jake's air supply. Jake croaks and chokes out loud, and as Roeper approaches the vehicle, she chuckles, and interjects.

Roeper Hart: You know... If you squeeze Daddy too tight, he'll go away for a REALLY long time!

Mara is susprised, and release Jake from her stranglehold.

Mara Jade Hart: Oh... Sorry daddy!

Jake chuckles.

Jake Starr: It's ok... Is it ok if we get out of the car, so we can go inside and actually hug for real?

Mara immediately gets excited.

Mara Jade Hart: Oh! Yes!

She is quick to jump out of Jake's lap, and head for the house. Jake slowly unbuckles and gets out, looking at Roeper as he goes to get his bags.

Roeper Hart: Welcome home, babe... I know you were home before the pay-per view, but this, to me, is your real homecoming.

Jake sighs.

Jake Starr: After what I said before Rise to Greatness, I figured you'd be feeling kind of awkward...

Roeper is confused.

Roeper Hart: Why is that? You went out there, you spoke your mind, and you said what you thought would happen at the pay-per view. You were exactly right about it, too.

Jake sighs again.

Jake Starr: Yeah... It wasn't my finest promo, that's for sure. It was more of the whole "fuck the world" mentality, and I figured that you wouldn't have particularly approved of everything that I said.

Roeper shrugs.

Roeper Hart: Truth be told, Jake, it doesn't matter what I think about what you say. What you say is for YOU to decide...

Jake Starr: Yeah... But... Everytime I have ever gone off of the deep end like that, you've been pretty upset with me.

Roeper Hart: Well, it's just not my business anymore, babe... I am going to be proud of you regardless of what you say because I'm tired of trying to make you into someone you're not, in the business world. Moreso, you'd unhappy as hell when you're not true to who you are. It's not fair to you for me to put that burden on you.

Jake cocks an eyebrow.

Jake Starr: Why is that?

Roeper Hart: It's simple, Jake... You're not "Jake Starr, the wrestler," when you're here. I didn't marry your professional side. When you're at home, you're "Jake Starr, husband and father," plain and simple. You don't have to feel like you have to be the same way at both places.

Jake Starr: Why not? I mean, I don't want to be some fraud in one place or the other...

Roeper Hart: Then don't be! Why is it being a fraud if you're a complete asshole on TV, and a father at home? The crowds don't have to like you, but guess what, we do! We have to love you. And as long as you're that loving person that we know you are at home, it doesn't matter who you are on TV. I mean, think about it, Jake. Think about those athletes that are often seen as complete pricks by the fans and media. Look at guys like Kobe, Tiger or even Marshawn... The fans and media look at them as if they're complete assholes, but at home, it's nowhere near the same story... I mean, sure, Tiger was a dick and unfaithful, but I have never ONCE heard Elin or the press insult him for being a bad father. Shit, Kobe raped some bitch, and since that once incident, he's been a family man from what I've heard. And Marshawn, he's one of the most asshole-ish members to the media, and at home, he's beloved.\

The fact is, they're not the same person in both places, but they do stay true to themselves!

You don't have to be Jake Starr everywhere you go, anymore. That's not how the world works. I don't have to love your wrestler persona, just like other fans don't. But when you're at home, or even on TV, I can still love my husband. If you can understand that they're not having to coexist in this world, everything will be so easy for you. Once you see you don't have to be the "Social Misfit" at home, we'll both be happier.

Face it, Jake, I didn't marry "Jake Starr, the wrestler." I need you to realize that they are both parts of you, but they're not one in the same. They're all aspects of this one man I fell in love with, and once you can learn to separate them a lot easier, life will be great...

Jake smiles.

Jake Starr: Do you really believe that?

Roeper Hart: I KNOW it... One morning I just woke up and I realized I didn't have to care about your TV persona as much. As Mara gets older, she'll see that what happens on TV is all in-character, and that it isn't who her daddy really is.

Jake Starr: I hope...

Roeper Hart: Jake... All I want is for Mara to know that you love her unconditionally. I know deep down that's what you ultimately want, too.

Jake nods.

Roeper Hart: Shit... Think about that asshat, Kanye West. The guy is the most hated entertainer in the fucking world. Everyone thinks he's a complete tool and an ass. Shit, he's douchy enough to interrupt Tay-Swift! But yet Kim still stands by him. She still loves him. She still sees whatever iota of good is inside him, and she stands by his side. She realizes that she doesn't have to always agree with that public persona, and loves him just the same.

That's where I am Jake...

That is who I am... Only with smaller tits...

Jake chuckles.

Roeper Hart: ... I love YOU for who YOU are at home, and how you treat this family. It's time I move on from being so concerned with the business, unless it's absolutely necessary. It's time for you to feel comfortable in your own skin again, too...

Jake continues to smile.

Roeper Hart: You don't have to run out and be nice to other people, just your friends and family. That is ALL I care about...

Jake nods, as Mara runs back to the front door to yell at the two.

Mara Jade Hart: Hurry up so we can play!!!

Jake smirks.

Jake Starr: I guess it's time to play, huh?

Roeper Hart: Apparently!

As the two make their way to the front door, Jake unleashes one final statement he hopes resonates.

Jake Starr: I'm so sorry for the past few months...

Roeper Hart: Don't worry about it, love... It's ultimately allowed us to both grow and find better ways to handle tough situations.

Jake Starr: Yeah...

Jake puts his arm around his wife as they two slowly approach the house, with Jake's bag in tow. It's a much more comforting feeling for him, knowing that his wife truly supports him being who he wants to be both at home and on the road, and not feeling like he has to be the same person 24/7.

Going forward, Jake feels a weight lifted off of his shoulders, as he can focus on being who he wants to be on TV and who he wants to be at home. He no longer feels required to question every move he makes, and instead wants to simply enjoy life, and enjoy being Jake Starr once again.

Jake Starr: Well folks, here we are. It's a new day. SCW's landscape is changing constantly, and now the organization doesn't even know who it's World Champion is. Couple that with not even having a care for one of its own championships, I would say this clusterfuck is continuing, wouldn't you say?

But the thing is... I'm not here to vent. I've spoken my peace about things, and everyone knows how annoyed I am with how much of a disaster SCW has become, but thet doesn't mean I'm giving up hope. My year has been a nice, steamy, smelly, pile of shit on toast. Not ONE good thing has happened to me. Not ONE positive outcome has come my way. I was blacklisted from ANY chances because people got butt-hurt, then I was dicked over by Xander, then told I wasn't the "complete package." Each of these times I've been screwed over and purposely held back, I was told it was because I didn't fit in a mold. I didn't fit the "role" I was being paid to play. I didn't do the job I was supposed to do. Now hearing all of this really made me pissed off. I felt I had to change. I felt that it was my responsibility to do whatever it took to "win" because that's all that matters...

Jake goes to continue but pauses briefly.

... And anyone who says otherwise is lying out their ass!

Jake gets back on topic.

Anyway, I digress... After about 2011, I felt that I had to fit into a mold that SCW had built for me. I walked into this place without a care in the world what people thought of me. I didn't care who liked me, who didn't, who were undecided, whatever, I didn't fucking care. All I cared about was the World Championship. I don't know if it was the constant barrage of people pissing and moaning about me being at the top of the contender's list or what, but I felt the need to alter my perception amongst my peers. I started being more of that "consumate good guy," and realized really quick that it just didn't work for me. So then this year, I decided to lambste people, and MAGICALLY I was pigeonholed into the role of "resident bad guy!"

Now in any kind of entertainment industry, the protagonist and antagonist are pretty cut and dry. Everything is black and white... Good and bad... Positive and negative... No gray area exists. The same goes with professional wrestling. You get two options. You're the face, good guy, or the heel, bad guy. It doesn't matter if those monikers fit who you are as a person, you are forced to adopt one of them, and run with it. In my case, when I was playing that "good guy" role, I was often told that I sounded "too heelish," and should sound more positive. Then, especially with my promo for Rayne, I hear, that I sounded "too much like a face." So in essence SCW has made me damned if I do, damned if I don't... So I have decided to take it upon myself to properly remedy this situation. I have decided that I will fix the wrongs SCW is pushing over on me, and the masses who pay their money, and correct this wrongdoing! From hence forth... I am not a heel... I am not a face... I am one thing, and one thing ONLY...

I AM A SOCIAL FUCKING MISFIT!

Now before you all say, "Oh Jake we've heard this before, tell us how you're going to do things like the past," you can eat a dick and die, because you're already thinking you know me. You don't know me... It's PAINFULLY obvious NOBODY knows me. Nobody realizes who I am, what I represent, and why I am who I am. Instead, I'm forced to fit someone else's mold. No more! I'm not your face, like Superman Helms... I'm not your heel like Blood Stain Rayne... I am someone who has his own opinions, thinks in his own manner, and isn't always angry or happy. There are days that I walk out here in front of a camera, and I genuinely am in a good mood. I like to go out and make a person here or there chuckle because I'm feeling onery, and want to do something a little more comedic. Then there are days I like going out and completely lambasting people, and pointing out atrocities that I have seen perpetrated against, oh I don't know, ME!

So when people think I'm just saying something over, listen to the context of this statement. I am not here to try and be the Social Misfit of old, by railroading against the man, making idle threats, or anything of the sorts. I'm being the Social Misfit that I truly am. Every time I have said this in the past, I have just tried to encompass one aspect of that mentality, and honestly, it's been a complete farce each time. I was STILL never myself. So for now, this isn't some big announcement. This isn't something I expect people to fear. This is something for ME! I need to return to being true to myself. If I'm happy, great... If I'm pissed off, fine... I am simply here to be ME! I was true to myself when I came to SCW and said my goals were simple... Now... They simplify again.

If people want to like me, that's their choice... If they want to boo me, big fucking deal... Either way I don't give a FUCK... I don't have the desire to waste my time pandering to one side of this black and white world or the other because I don't fit in either one. I fit in MY WORLD, and honestly, that's the ONLY world that matters. So when I say I'm going to be the Social Misfit, it isn't to push for anarchy. It isn't to bring down the front office because let's be real, everyone goes for that angle sometimes, and guys like James Evans truly make it sound lame a fuck... So I'm just going to be me. If someone pisses me off, I will WASTE NO TIME in pointing it out. If someone actually is nice to me, fine... I'll show appreciation and move on. But don't think I'm losing sleep or feeling comfort over either scenario. Regardless of what I say, how I act, whether I'm cheered or booed, or whatever, I am still the ONE MAN people try like hell to beat. I am still that guy who brings out the BEST in everyone in this organization. I am still the guy everyone DESPERATELY wants to beat... And you know why?

EVERYONE KNOWS I'M THE BEST FUCKING THING SCW HAS GOING TODAY!

Jake smirks.

Care to question that?

Answer me why more people tend to focus on every minute detail of what I do in life, rather than that of others... Answer me why people are fucking OBSESSED with every action I take... The truth is, everyone is desperate to knock me off of my high horse and want me gone. The problem is, I go nowhere... I am ALWAYS around... Unlike the black and white, cookie-cutter, good and bad guys, I am different and unique because I stick around, and do my thing NIGHT AFTER FUCKING NIGHT. I don't run away and hide if things don't go my way. I don't quit 8 times a year. I don't switch between good and bad when one feels "stale," I just stay me. And now... Everyone will get to remember who I am. Everyone will see me go out there, mock people, call people out, and do whatever I have to do to get what I want, and that's to be back in the driver's seat as SCW World Champion...

Jake cracks his neck.

... And it all starts over at Breakdown!

At Breakdown I walk into the arena to fight for the first time since, yet again, NOT being pinned at Rise to Greatness. That notion alone tells me that, for all intents and purposes, I am still undefeated at Rise to Greatness. Sure, I have lost a couple of matches in the record books, but in reality, I have NEVER been the reason the match was lost. I was NEVER involved in EITHER decision, and personally I think that says a lot. Regardless, at Breakdown I'm facing off against Colin Cole, a man I know who is DESPERATE to have a big win under his belt. I get that he wants to be something special in this business, but unfortunately it's not going to be in the cards for this poor sap. You see, he is one of those superheroes who I have grown sick of dealing with, and watching get pushed over me. Their fake little persona, where they can do no wrong, is comical and placating to a bunch of rubes who believe them to be this great bastion of excellence...

I mean, yay, good for him, he's a former United States Champion, having beaten Marina Trent in 2013, but what has he truly done since? Now, let me say he could have done something, and me not know... It is conceivable that his career path has absolutely ZERO meaning to me, and I have no idea what meaningless little wins he may have won here or there, that he may hang his hat on... So let's just be clear, in my world, which does in fact revolve around me, me, me, and yes, me, Colin Cole hasn't done SHIT in this business. Yet he's one of those guys I hear praised for how wonderful he is...

Jake cocks an eyebrow.

Really?

Nobody gives two fucks that I won the United States Championship to become the Supreme Champion, yet douche-nozzle here is something special? Really? I'm supposed to believe that a guy who hangs his hat on THAT is one of the big up and comers? How long has he been in SCW, anyway? Dude has been here that long, and yet he has accomplished just a touch more in his tenure than Soopaman Luva!

He's the one who gets thrown to the wolves?

He is the one who I get to punk out live on TV?

Works for me! I prefer an easier challenge to get that little "easy win" under my belt, before moving on to bigger fish in the sea...

Jake does a mocking voice of someone complaining.

"But Jake, you're burying your opponent!"

Jake goes back to his normal voice.

Yeah, well, fuck you!

This is another thing I hear all of the time. I talk shit, and people think I'm burying someone. Well sorry, I know I'm better than everyone here. I'm not going to pretend that I am not, just so someone doesn't feel like they can't match up to me. The fact is, they can't. I am Jake Starr, and I have PROVEN that when I'm on my game I'm unstoppable. So why should I try and fluff up someone else's ego, when the truth is, I'm going out there to bury everyone. I'm going out there KILL the hopes and dreams of whatever pile of shit they throw my way, so I can get back to where I want to be. It's just the nature of this business!

Remember, if anyone tries to play it off and say that winning isn't the end game, they are lying, or suck and lose all of the time!

It's that simple!

So when I go out there, and I bludgeon Cole a few times, fly high, and crash down on him, it'll be as if I actually buried him. You won't have some half-wit, who let's be honest couldn't sound more "bad guy-ish" when he's playing a good guy if he tried, ahem Merrick, trying to say I figuratively buried anyone. It will be legit. It will be real. It will be the destruction of one of the minor players in a game where I am done playing the same role. I'm done being one of the little peons who gets SHIT on, all because there are two or three people who monopolize the main event spots. I'm going out there to ruin lives, and make mine a little more enjoyable. Let's face it... My happiness is all that matters. It's all that should matter to anyone because when I'm happy, the world is at peace... When I'm not happy shit hits the fan, and people get a little more cranky with one another.

So face it... I'm out to be happy. If that constitutes burying a few people, meh, so be it. This isn't their life, it's mine. Colin Cole is just patient zero in this little return to being me! It probably is an unfortunate thing for him, but honestly I don't care. I'm going to Breakdown... I'm winning... And I'm moving on to whatever is next after that.

This is me being me...

This is my moment to be a Phoenix, rising from the ashes...

It may not seem much different to the masses, but in MY HEART, this is me going back to being who I truly am, and was meant to be. I don't fit in your mold. Fuck your mold. I am a Social Misfit, and I fit in my own mold, under my own terms! So enjoy the ride, motherfuckers, I know I will! And Colin, sucks to be you!
