When Roeper threw out the bombshell on the agent from Child Protective Services that they were completely aware of the parties behind the attempt at taking Mara from she and Jake, it changed the ballgame all together. When the agent first heard those words, she realized that CPS has been trumped by a better card, and if there was any hope of resurrecting their case, and still coming out on top, it'd have to appear to them, and appear to them fast.

She quickly retreated back to her offices to begin reassessing things, and soon realized she'd eventually have to explain things to Alice and Ron. She knew that, deep down, once they found out that their plan had been discovered, they'd most likely overreact. It was a trait that she quickly picked up on, from Ron, and assumed it carried over to Alice as well. So with that being the case, she knew she'd have to act smart and quickly, to avoid having things seriously blow up in her face.

For several days she waited and debated. The options were all there for her to try and run with, but she couldn't figure out which one seemed to be the most logical one. Each had strong points, while each also had many, many, many flaws. For days she wracked her brain, trying to figure out an answer, and also try and figure out how she would explain things to Ron and Alice, once the big time came.

As she continued to ponder, the mail handler in their agency dropped off her mail for the day. She found one letter that looked official, and suspicious all at the same time. She immediately began to tear it open, fearing what was inside, and it was at that very moment, her case was delivered a major blow, and reality began to truly sink in. It's also when she realized she couldn't wait for the "right opportunity" to come into her mind, but rather, she had to inform Ron and Alice, and do so now!

After reading the letter she was sent, she immediately rushed to her office, and made a direct phone call to Ron. She informed him that their presence in Des Moines was imperative, and that she had a major update in regards to the case. Ron immediately asks what is going on, and the agent simply replies that it is a matter of the utmost importance, and one she would prefer to speak with him on a much more face to face basis on. When Ron hears this, he tells the agent they'll be taking the next flight out, on the next day. He says if it is important to the case, it's important enough for him to be there immediately. and he then subsequently hangs up on her.

When Ron hangs up, he immediately tells Alice they're flying to Des Moines to meet with the CPS agent, and says there is big news. He has a definite spring in his step, even when Alice tries to tell him that the "big news" could be bad for him.

As the next day rolls around, the CPS agent cannot stop herself from frantically pacing around her office. In her mind, all she can think about is the fact Ron and Alice are on their way, and she's going to have to spill her guts, as far as where everything stands. As she waits, she keeps pulling out that piece of mail that she received the day before, and looking it over. Each time, she shakes her head, and lets out a sigh, feeling the stress of what that one piece of paper will mean for her and her clients. As she continues to read it over, she utters...

CPS Agent: I just can't believe it...

After pausing, and briefly reflecting, she looks up at her clock and realizes Ron and Alice should be arriving at any moment. She actually half-way expected them to arrive early, and the fact they're actually later than their planned arrival has her even more nervous. She takes a peek out of her window, and looks up and down the street outside, hoping to catch a glimpse of them coming, but unfortunately sees nothing. As an added precautionary measure, she pages up to the receptionist out in their lobby...

CPS Agent: ... Jan? When Ron and Alice Hart arrive, send them to my office immediately. I don't care if I'm on the phone, if I'm in the bathroom, anything, you send them back. If I'm busy, it's perfectly OK to have them interrupt.

After hearing the edict from the agent, the receptionist OK's the order.

With the knowledge that she'll be alerted to their arrival, the agent resumes work on miscellaneous paperwork she needed to wrap up. After several more tense moments, the page arrives stating that Ron and Alice have arrived, and have been sent back toward her office. The agent takes a long, drawn out, deep, breath, and begins to feel nerves and anxietiy overtaking her, as she thinks about breaking the news to the two would-be "parents" to Mara.

After exhaling her breath, she looks up, and from outside the glass windows of her office, she sees the two approaching. She quickly stands up, and walks around her desk to greet them. As the door to her office opens, she looks at both of them with the warmest smile she can muster.

CPS Agent: Ron... Alice... So good to see you, and so glad you could come up here on such short notice.

Ron Hart: Glad to be here!

Alice Hart: Yes... And we're happy to see you...

CPS Agent: I'm glad to see you both as well. Please... Have a seat!

Ron Hart: I'm excited to hear how everything is progressing. Alice and I were excited to hear that there was some news, finally...

Ron peeks over at Alice.

Ron Hart: ... Am I right?

Alice simply sighs as she looks at him. The look forces Ron to give her a nasty glare. It's a stare that forces Alice to nod, and agree. It's also a power move that the CPS agent quickly notices. The agent begins to realize that these two may not be on the same page as far as this lawsuit and investigation goes.

Ron, seeing Alice nod, makes him smile. He then turns his attention back to the agent, as he takes his seat across from her desk.

As Ron and Alice sit, the agent sighs herself, and walks around to her chair. As she gets settled, she clears her throat.

Ron Hart: ... So... I'm very interested to hear what you have for us.

The agent sighs again.

CPS Agent: Yeah... About that whole update...

Her initial statement makes Ron very nervous. He begins to wonder if he was duped into coming to Des Moines. It's a feeling in his gut that makes him quickly fire off a comment toward the woman.

Ron Hart: You do have an update for us, right?

He begins to give her the same stare he gave to Alice, which doesn't phase the agent like it did Alice. Instead, she pulls it together, and begins explaining things.

CPS Agent: Ahem... Yes, I have an update, and it is a pretty major one as well.

Ron Hart: Good, because I'm all ears!

CPS Agent: Well... That's good. You both should be. Things have definitely taken a turn.

Ron Hart: Did you finally see Jake for the complete and utter miscreant that he is?

CPS Agent: Well... Not exactly. I think it's safer to say that things have taken a turn for the worst.

The comment is one that causes Alice's ears to immediately perk up, and also causes Ron to become overcome with confusion.

Ron Hart: What are you talking about?

The agent takes another deep breath before uttering two words that have her extremely nervous...

CPS Agent: They know...

Ron cocks his eyebrow.

Ron Hart: Who knows?

CPS Agent: Jake, Roeper and their lawyer... They know...

Ron's reaction grows more snippy.

Ron Hart: They know WHAT?

CPS Agent: They have figured out that you guys are behind this investigation. They know it's all been you all along.

Alice takes a major gulp of saliva, and her eyes go wide.

Ron Hart: WHAT?!

Alice Hart: Oh my God...

Ron's voice immediately goes from raised to complete yelling.

Ron Hart: WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!

CPS Agent: They know what is going on, Ron. They know everything. They have it all figured out. They now have formulated a complete counter-attack against the two of you.

Alice comments under her breath, yet again.

Alice Hart: I knew this would happen...

Ron's head whips back around at Alice.

Ron Hart: Shut up!

His attention returns back to the CPS agent.

Ron Hart: ... How can this be?! What in the HELL made you think it was a good idea to tell them?

The agent shakes her head.

CPS Agent: I didn't... I didn't tell them anything...

Ron Hart: You have to be lying! You screwed up! You're supposed to be a representative for Mara, and instead you are here screwing up, letting them have the upper hand! You've completely gone to the wrong side of the team here!

The agent is overcome with emotion herself, and her fist pounds on the desk.

CPS Agent: I didn't screw a damn thing up!

She realizes she was drug into an emotional battle, and takes another deep breath. She takes another deep breath, and continues her explanation.

CPS Agent: ... Jake has friends, and those friends have a lot of money. They apparently hired a private investigator, and on top of that, their lawyer knew enough people to go ahead and get them information from our offices as well.

Ron continues to push his viewpoint.

Ron Hart: ... No, you screwed up! We trusted you, and you were supposed to make sure that Jake was exposed for the piss-poor father that he is. You were given EVERY PIECE of evidence that you would have needed, and all you had to do was corroborate it with visual proof. It wasn't as if you and your failures had to do any actual work with an investigation!

CPS Agent: Trust me when I say that things were adequately investigated by my guys. I had agents patrolling Jake's whereabouts 24/7. They monitored EVERYTHING. Still... Even with all of that, they simply knew the right people in the right places.

Ron Hart: You fucked up!

CPS Agent: No sir... We did our job, just as we are supposed to do. Things just didn't play out as we all expected.

Ron Hart: Well apparently not!

Alice mumbles again, this time with a whisper.

Alice Hart: I knew this would happen...

Ron quickly jerks back, and chastises Alice again.

Ron Hart: Alice, I told you to shut up!

The agent tries to pull Ron's attention back to her.

CPS Agent: ... There's more news, Ron...

Ron's head quickly darts back around, and the sarcasm quickly comes out.

Ron Hart: ... And let me guess, it's not good news either?

The agent slowly shakes her head.

CPS Agent: No... It's not...

She reaches over and grabs the piece of paper she was looking at earlier. She unfolds the paper, and extends it out to Ron. Ron simply snatches it out of her hand, and begins to read it. As he scans the document, he quickly notices that it's an official and signed restraining order against both Ron, Alice, and the CPS. In reading this, Ron's eyes widen.

Ron Hart: WHAT THE HELL?!

Alice Hart: Ron? What is it?

He flips the paper around.

Ron Hart: It's a Goddamn restraining order!

Alice gasps.

Alice Hart: Oh my God!

Ron looks back up at the agent again.

Ron Hart: I could give two shits about this, just so you know. If they want to try and stop me from taking Mara, it'll take more than a stupid piece of paper to do so.

The agent sighs.

CPS Agent: Ron, if you violate this, even in the slightest, you'll be thrown in jail, and any case you might have had to try and say you were the more "suitable" parent to Mara will be out the window as well.

Ron Hart: Oh really? Well if anyone ever tries to say that Jake is better than me, they're completely insane.

Alice finally chimes in fully.

Alice Hart: We really should have someone mediate this, or maybe we should simply drop this case overall. It's not worth it anymore. I've decide I'm not going to be part of this any longer.

Ron's head darts back Alice's way, this time with a look of shock and anger mixed together.

Ron Hart: Oh yes you will, Alice!

Alice gulps, and finally decides to step up for herself.

Alice Hart: Ron... No! I won't! I'm tired of you doing everything in your power to break our family apart. I'm finished being a part of that plan. I'm done calling our daughter and our son-in-law bad parents, when the've done absolutely NOTHING to suggest so. If you want to pursue this, Ron, then it's on YOUR head. I'm not having any part of it. I want my name removed off of that document. On top of that, I want that information passed along to Jake and Roeper as well.

Ron's anger boils over.

Ron Hart: You are NOT doing that Alice, PERIOD!

Alice quickly counters back.

Alice Hart: Ron... This isn't your call anymore. You're not in charge of this. I'm done, and that is final!

The agent sighs again. She realizes this case now has far more holes and flaws than it did when she first took it on. She knows, now, that she can't truly pursue a case this poorly setup, especially when the pursuers aren't even on the same page as well. She also begins to realize she needs to review whether or not CPS wants to be part of this any further.

With this new dilemma on top of the fact that Jake and Roeper have thrown the restraining order in their direction, this whole ordeal could be a point when they need to fish or cut bait. At the same time, she knows that her career could be on the line if she allows something like this to go forward. If she opted to step back and simply step away from the case, it could allow her to save face, and show Jake and Roeper that CPS is out for the child's best interest and not for any political or personal gain.

Jake Starr: Well if you ask me, Breakdown was surely a moment that defined how I feel, and how I am going forward from here on out. It also was a time when everyone got a glaring sneak peak at what is to come, down the road, and ultimately how I will be making things right, by getting MY SHOT at the World Championship of Supreme Championship Wrestling.

So, I guess the question is, why? Why would I go about things in a much more unconventional manner, and attack guys like James Evans and Thirteen, when there was no real provocation?

I guess I have some explaining to do then, huh?

When I first came onto the scene in Supreme Championship Wrestling, I wasn't living by anyone's rules but my own. If there was something I wanted, then I went out there and I took it. The only time it was "blessed" upon me, was when Big Daddy D decided to give me a shot at the Adrenaline Championship... But even then, I won the Ultimate Opportunity Match to get it. Outside of that, I forced the world to accept that I was going to go out there and take what I wanted. It was a path that got me several enemies along the way, and hell, some even are like that to this day. It was something I did, that got me what I wanted. If I wanted a shot at the World Championship, I went out there, and I made it happened.

I didn't wait for someone else...

I didn't expect someone else to come along and say, "You know, Jake, you've been doing a lot, and we want to reward you..."

I didn't wait to be "discovered..."

I did it all myself!

When I got injured, and ultimately when I went into that funk last year, I wasn't in that frame of mind. I was, instead, waiting on someone to give me my shot. I waited for Winters... I waited for Christy to show the heart of a TRUE CHAMPION... And hell... I am WAITING for my Adrenaline Title shot...

Did you notice a trend there?

I waited! And I was still waiting until I finally realized what the big difference was between me then, and me now. Back then, I was the Social Misfit. I was the guy with a history and reputation for giving organizations two options... Do things my way, or suffer some long-standing consequences. I went out, and I made people recognize that I was THE GUY in SCW. I was THE GUY who went out there, and was the face that everyone saw, and saw often.

Now, however, times are different. I've been restricted in my appearances. I've been forced to be selective with my appearances, while taking a back seat to guys like Infamous, Shilo Valiant, and basically anyone else who was a flash in the pan "top guy" for any period of time since I came back. I haven't gone out there, and FORCED everyone's hands.

Jake smirks, thinking back to the events that have lead up to this needed explanation.

... And then came Breakdown, and my personal epiphany!

See, earlier this year, I made it clear that the Social Misfit was returning. I made it clear that this was a decision that I made myself, and was making whether anyone liked it or not. There was a problem, though, at least in my mind. The problem was, I hadn't fully embraced that mentality again. I hadn't ACTED like the Social Misfit. I was still WAITING! I didn't seize anything, and I was allowing the suits to dictate what I did, who I did it with, and where I was in the pecking order. I sat back and watched, as people like Adam Allocco "earned" slots by doing less than I did.

I realized, while in the back at Breakdown, that I needed to change. It was then I was given my moment to go out there, and do a little talking. I wanted the world to know what I thought regarding what was to come, but then, I was a interrupted! Rudely, at that! I was interrupted by a man who has decided that it was his job to try and repeat things that others have tried to say, and made accusations that we've heard time and time again.

Yes folks... I was interrupted by the failure that is, James Evans!

Jake begins to nod slowly.

Yeah... That guy...

See, Evans came out there to try and get under my skin, and also trying to save face. Everything I said about him, and every truth I spoke about his failure, was something that, I know, got under his skin. I know that going out to Taking Hold of the Flame, he actually was legitimately trying. The dude thought he was going to shock the world, and prove that 40 was the magic number for him. He knows that the fact he was a royal bust, he was embarrassed at Taking Hold of the Flame. He knows that he was looked at as an idiot, and he's now desperately trying to save face. He wanted to try and get under my skin by trying the whole, "you threw in the towel against Christy," routine, which is about as overplayed as Infamous being the catalyst of everything that happens in SCW.

But yet, like Blake Mason on Twitter, it's the ONLY THING people can think of to try and get under my skin!

Now, while it didn't get under my skin, it did setoff a lightbulb. It gave me the catalyst I needed to go back to being who I was, and who everyone seems to think I'm not now. James's little pep talk did, I think, what it was meant to do. What started as James trying to save face, turned into him doing everything he could to help facilitate the return of Jake Starr to SCW.

So... I obliged!

When he decided his little "picker-upper" was done, he started walking away from me. HE decided that it was all over, and everything was going to end on his terms. It was JUST like the suits. Everyone else was picking how things would go for me and my career, and I was just supposed to sit back, and let it happen, but not this time! And that was why I got his attention, and BOOM... I put his ass on his head, and I made him realize that there was a new attitude in town. I wanted him to realize what he had just brought on himself, and SCW...

Jake approaches the camera, wanting to give a much more personalized message to Evans.

... So, was it worth it James? Was it worth waking the sleeping giant? Was it worth being THE GUY who brought the Social Misfit back? Was it worth the price of knowing that, come Ammo, you're going to get the SAME treatment, as I go out there, and I use you? Yeah... I said it... I'm going to USE you. As much as all of the "decision makers" would like you and I to be the guys who Zero "uses," it'll be me doing that dirty work. It will be me showing the world that the hopes and dreams of the "suits" will be dashed.

You brought a side out of me that I had been searching for. You, my friend, deserve a sense of thanks for what you did. I just doubt you realize what you have now unleashed on Supreme Championship Wrestling. I don't think you understand what this does to the dynamic of the organization. I don't think that you, by bringing up all of the past AGAIN, realize what it is going to do to Supreme Championship Wrestling. I know you don't understand the can of worms YOU opened. So... I hope you can live with that decision, kid... I can... And I will!

Jake steps back from his confrontational position, to continue his explanation. James Evans only marked part of the whole brouhaha that Jake caused at Breakdown.

There is another group with a bit of curiosity as to what happened at Breakdown, and that is Blake Mason and Thirteen. Those two seemed to be taken back a bit by what happened to them, and truthfully, Blake has been all over Twitter bitching about it too.

So I suggest those two listen, and listen closely to what I'm about to say...

It was what needed to be done!

When Josh decided to "slap some sense" into me, it wasn't going to just revolve around James Evans and Jason Zero. Hell... It wasn't just going to revolve around the World Championship, either. It was going to apply 100% to EVERYTHING I was involved with, and that includes the Adrenaline Championship.

See, the "suits" had been dangling that carrot in front of my face for too fucking long. They started it by the whole, "at a later date" bullshit. They never gave it a date, and in fact, they never gave me any inclination that it'd be anytime within my own lifetime. So I decided to let the world know that it would happen, and it would happen at a locale where I could steal the show, and that will be Rise to fucking Greatness! It will be that night when I completely make people forget that Christy Matthews desecrated the main event. It'll be that night when Jake Starr reclaims gold in SCW!

Jake grins. The thought of FINALLY reclaiming gold in SCW has Jake frothing at the mouth. He knows, however, he still has more than just James Evans in his way before he ever gets to try and finally dethrone Thirteen, and tie the record for most reigns as Adrenaline Champion.

But...

Yes, there is a but...

I can't get overzealous. I can't truly make everything about James Evans. I can't forget about the number one contender for the World Championship. I can't forget about Jason Zero!

I've gone through our history... I've made everyone aware of what he and I have been through. But still, there is a lot that can be said about him.

See, like I said, he is the guy everyone wants to be successful, right now. If he failed now, SCW would have problems hyping him up as the "true top guy" for the World Championship. If he lost, his momentum would be gone. So, why they put him against Evans and I is one of two reasons... One, they want him to truly eliminate all doubt that his Taking Hold of the Flame victory was just a one-time fluke. They want to show that the REAL Jason Zero is back. The other possibility is that they believe we'll be easy feeding for him, and simply be a cake walk for him. We could be those guys that help keep him "warmed up."

It is the ONLY two options that make sense. But if you ask me, one makes more sense over the other. One of those scenarios seems far more likely than the other. The one that seems more realistic, is the one where they want to prove that the Jason Zero of old is back. They want everyone to believe that he's legit. They want everyone to see him as the phenom, or "Phantom" depending on how far back you go, that he was.

I guess you can say, he's in the same boat as I am...

That's right, folks! Zero is a guy who suffered quite a radical decline from glory, right around the same time that I got injured, and ultimately came back. He was a guy who wasn't performing at the same level that he once was. He was a guy who had fallen from grace, and ultimately become one of those guys who had past his prime, and was simply filling a roster void.

It's a boat that I know quite well, myself!

That's why I feel that they want him to pull off a monumental path to Rise to Greatness. He lost his opportunity to openly challenge for the World Champion, and he had to put himself through the most arduous and difficult path in order to even be CONSIDERED for a shot. So, winning this was merely phase one. Keeping up with that pace isn't going to be easy. He's going to have to continue to prove himself day in, and day out, all up until he faces Shilo at Rise to Greatness.

That's why I know that path. That's why I can relate. When I came back, I wasn't even on the radar of ANYTHING in SCW. I had to keep grinding, hoping for recognition. I had to go through fighting every fucking member of Greaternity, just to even get a chance to face Shawn Winters, and he's the one who basically called me out to begin with. But still, I kept trudging. I'm still trudging. I haven't gotten that moment yet.

That, though, is about to change...

Jake smirks, once again, and nods.

... And it'll all come full circle!

See, thanks to Evans, I waited for that brass ring. I waited for people to give me shots. I waited, like Zero, for the opportunity to come to me. I waited, and waited, and waited. It never came knocking. So, like I did before, I'm bringing the brass ring to the party, and am going to smack people around with it. I'm going into Ammo with the ability to dethrone the number one contender, and make the suits realize that if they're going to hand out shots to just anyone and everyone, they'll be forced to do it for me. They'll be FORCED to do just like they did after Exeter won at Rise to Greatness, and put me in line for the next shot.

Jason Zero marks an opportunity for me to truly show that I'm back. Everything he's had to do in order to get where he is, I've done moreover. Once I dispose of him, and once I become the reigning KING of the Adrenaline Division, the division I HELPED resurrect from obscurity, the suits will have to look me in the eye, they'll have to look the fans in the eye, and they'll have to explain themselves. No longer will they have any ability to just say their actions were justified. No longer will they be able to try and say that so-and-so was more qualified than me.

Once Christy cashes in, once Zero has his chance, there will be one champion... There is nobody who is already setup for that next slot... So, at Ammo, at Breakdown, at Rise to Greatness, at every fucking event I enter from here on out, I make my case completely undeniable.

No more excuses... It's my way, or no way...
