The Gathering of Shadows
The skies above the state line finally gave out, opening into a punishing, relentless downpour. Huge sheets of water slammed into the tree canopy, drowning out the ambient noise of the woods and blanketing the earth in heavy darkness. Cracks of lightning split the black clouds at rhythmic intervals, illuminating the outer perimeter of The Compound in stark, violent flashes of blue and white.
Kirsten and Hailey used the roar of the thunder and the guaranteed curtain of rain to slip past the outer tree line, moving like two lethal ghosts across the muddy expanse toward the last known location of the Oracle. Kirsten knew the terrain better than her own heartbeat. If there was one certainty in the chaotic mind of the cult's leadership, it was their slavish devotion to ritual. They would not keep Emma in a modern holding cell or a tactical basement. They would bring her straight back to the same place they had held Kirsten years ago... The secluded, stone floored hut tucked behind the main estate, a structure built specifically to keep the Oracle isolated from the outside world.
Why change a system they believed was ordained by divine right?
Outside of Kirsten finding the structural weak points years ago... A breach made possible only because the guards had foolishly placed their faith in the myth of "The One"... The location presented no viable avenue of escape. It was a fortress built on isolation.
As Kirsten and Hailey picked their way through the overgrown gardens bordering the rear of the main estate, a dense, cloying scent began to cut through the smell of pine and ozone. It was jasmine. Heavy, sickly sweet jasmine incense, burnt in massive quantities to overpower the smell of damp rot clinging to the decaying estate. Flickering black candles lined the stone pathways, their flames sputtering violently against the wind and rain, protected only by crude glass hurricanes. Beneath the porch overhangs sat discarded, empty bottles of imported liquor and expensive champagne, their crystal necks catching the weak candlelight. This did not look like the home of two loving parents desperately seeking a reunion with their long lost child. This was not even a dignified, reverent place of worship.
It was a decaying shell of an empire in its terminal phase.
Inside the main hall, visible through the tall, arched stained glass windows, a hedonistic and depraved celebration was underway. The cult's remaining inner circle... A collection of wealthy, corrupt donors, disgraced politicians, and aging aristocrats... Had gathered to throw down a gauntlet. They were celebrating the presumed final defeat of "The One", the deserter who had embarrassed their order, exposed their secrets, and brought their financial empire to its knees years prior.
Kirsten paused in the shadow of a heavy stone pillar, her taped fingers gripping the weighted lead pipe at her side. She looked through the wet glass of the parlor window. Inside, men and women in tailored suits and silk ceremonial robes were indulging in disgusting excess. They laughed, poured liquor over the floorboards, and offered drunken toasts to the grand rebirth of their order. They were utterly blind to the fact that their judge, jury, and executioner was currently standing twenty feet away in the downpour, watching them through the glass. Kirsten's eyes scanned the crowd, freezing when she caught sight of two figures standing near the grand fireplace.
It was her mother and father.
They were not drinking. They were not laughing. They stood huddled together on the fringe of the room, looking visibly unnerved, frail, and entirely out of their depth among the aggressive, intoxicated zealots. They looked like two fools who had bought a ticket to an exclusive club, only to realize too late that the club was run by bloodthirsty maniacs. It solidified everything Kirsten had realized at the service station. They were not masterminds. They were pathetic, broken enablers who had allowed themselves to be dragged into hell by their own vanity.
Hailey tapped Kirsten's shoulder, pointing toward the covered stone walkway leading directly to the Oracle's hut. Two guards stood outside the heavy oak door of the hut. They wore dark, rain slicked tactical vests over white ceremonial linen, holding heavy shock batons. They were young, brainwashed zealots, scanning the dark yard with nervous, twitching energy.
Kirsten signaled with two fingers. No sound. No speech.
They moved simultaneously as a massive clap of thunder rolled across the valley. Hailey closed the distance first, stepping out of the shadows like a shadow made manifest. Before the guard on the left could raise his baton or scream a warning, Hailey swung a heavy steel crowbar in a brutal, tight arc. The iron struck the side of his tactical helmet with a sickening, metallic crack, dropping him instantly into the mud. The second guard scrambled to draw a sidearm, but Kirsten was already on him. She grabbed his wrist, twisting it violently until his joint popped out of its socket, and slammed the high voltage contacts of her tactical stun baton directly into the side of his exposed neck. A violent, blinding arc of electricity snapped through the air. The guard's body went completely rigid, his eyes rolling into the back of his head as thousands of volts surged through his nervous system. He collapsed like a sack of wet stones against the door frame.
Kirsten caught his body before it hit the floor, sliding him quietly into the shadows. She turned the heavy iron handle of the oak door and pushed it open, stepping into the stifling heat of the room. Hailey followed right behind her, her heavy boots leaving trail marks of mud and rain on the rug.
The interior of the hut was suffocating. The air was thick with smoke from black candles and heavy jasmine incense, layered over the sharp, unmistakable chemical stench of industrial sedatives and chloroform. And sitting in the center of the room, illuminated by the flickering candlelight, was Emma. She sat on a raised wooden stool, slumped forward like a forgotten rag doll. She was dressed in a heavy, flowing linen robe patterned in traditional cult script... The ceremonial garb of the Oracle. Her brown hair was neatly brushed back, but her face was terrifyingly pale.
Emma's head slowly drifted upward at the sound of the door closing, but her eyes were glassy, unfocused, and completely vacant. She looked toward Kirsten, but her gaze passed straight through her, seeing only phantom shapes in the haze of the drugs pumping through her bloodstream.
A faint, purple needle mark was visible on the crook of her elbow.
Beside the stool lay a handwritten ceremonial itinerary. In less than ten minutes, the cult leaders were planning to drag Emma out onto the main balcony of the estate, parading their new, compliant Oracle in front of the degenerate donors downstairs to prove that the bloodline had been restored.
Hailey let out a sharp, shuddering gasp, her taped hand flying to her mouth as tears welled up in her swollen, bruised eye. The sight of their little sister reduced to a mindless, drugged prop almost shattered her composure entirely. They had fought so hard to rescue Emma years ago, to give her a life outside these walls, and seeing her trapped in this nightmare again ignited a raw, feral fury. Hailey took a violent step forward, reaching out to pull Emma into her arms. Kirsten caught Hailey by the shoulder, her grip like an iron vise. Kirsten looked into Hailey's eyes, shaking her head once with absolute, chilling authority.
There was no time to panic. There was no time to weep. The time for quietly sneaking out through the shadows had officially expired. The sight of Emma's vacant eyes had extinguished the very last remnant of Kirsten's human restraint. They were not just rescuing family... They were elder sisters reclaiming what was theirs and burning down the bastards who dared touch her.
Kirsten slowly reached down, grabbing the two cans of industrial accelerant strapped to her tactical harness. She looked back toward the heavy double doors connecting the rear walkway to the grand foyer of the main estate, where the music and drunken laughter were reaching a deafening crescendo.
She did not look at the map.
She did not calculate an exit path.
She looked at Hailey, her voice dropping into a razor thin whisper that cut through the storm outside.
Kirsten Scott: Hold onto Emma... Do not let her go, no matter what happens...
Kirsten thumbed the cap off the first can of accelerant, turning her back on the quiet hut, and stepped straight toward the grand hall. ::

PROMORise to Greatness is a single, pivotal moment that has been sitting in the back of my mind since the very second I stepped foot back inside this company. Why? It's simple... It is the night where I finally get to find out if I made the right call or not. It is the defining moment where I will be able to stand under those blinding lights, look into the eyes of every single person in the arena, and definitively state that Kirsten Scott BELONGS in SCW once again.
While I have been systematically handling my business since my return, this pay-per-view is going to prove to be the exact crucible I wanted... The exact test I NEEDED to have. Because, as everyone in that locker room already knows, this night isn't handing me just one isolated opportunity. It is giving me MULTIPLE opportunities. And with a night like that comes a heavy, complex multitude of tactical situations that I have to be extremely smart about navigating.
Do I accidentally allow my focus to drift toward one match over another?
Do I conserve my energy and pour my heart ONLY into the fight that I believe will propel me the furthest up the corporate ladder?
Do I care more about shiny championship metal than I do about putting self-entitled bullies in their place?
Every single one of those questions is completely valid. Every single one of those dilemmas is something that has crossed my mind, kept me awake in the dead of night, and forced me to have a long, brutally honest conversation with myself in the mirror.
To be completely transparent... When both of these matches were officially announced, and I heard that my match with Dawn Lohan carried a massive, game-changing stipulation on it, it genuinely forced me to pause. It made me wonder if I should take the easy way out... If I should simply abandon the tag match, focus exclusively on Dawn, and do whatever cheap, self-serving move I felt would immediately propel me to the absolute top of the card.
You know... Exactly like most people in this locker room think! That is the standard protocol around here, isn't it? Protect your spot. Cut corners. Screw over anyone who trusts you if it means climbing one rung higher on the ladder. But the more I sat there in the silence and analyzed the situation through that selfish lens, the more thoroughly disgusted I became with my own reflection. Because that is not who Kirsten Scott is. That is not who I have EVER been. I am not some hollow, manufactured diva who came back here chasing glitz, glamour, corporate praise, and cheap fame. I didn't sign my contract just to have title shots handed to me on a silver platter without shedding blood for them first.
And then the reality hit me... I realized that I have NEVER backed down from a fight in my entire life, no matter how heavily outnumbered, outgunned, or brutally outmatched I appeared to be on paper. I realized that the exact same unyielding grit applied right here at Rise to Greatness.
I don't have to choose. I can focus on both. I can fight both fights with every ounce of violence in my soul.
And most importantly... I am going to WIN them both!
She shifts her weight, her arms folding across her chest as her expression turns cold, analytical, and deeply personal.
Now, let's talk about the elephant in the room... Because before I could fully commit to this second war, I had to sit back and really evaluate whether or not I wanted to potentially re-litigate my past.
When I made the decision to return to SCW, one of the primary driving forces behind my comeback was the chance to move forward. It was the desire to NOT sit here obsessing over the exact same handful of toxic individuals over and over again. I wanted to do everything within my power to avoid getting dragged back into a perpetual nightmare of endless matches, endless encounters, and endless political mind games with anyone bearing the last name of Frost.
So when CHBK put this second match directly in front of me... A lot of dark history rushed back into my head all at once. I had to do some serious soul-searching. I had to decide if I was truly willing to walk down that dark, familiar path again, or if putting myself through that emotional meat grinder was even worth the toll it takes on my sanity. Because let's be completely honest about history... The Frosts are a family that left a remarkably bitter, sour taste in my mouth. I knew deep in my gut that I had the physical capability to beat them. I knew I was better. Yet, somehow, every single time the dust settled in the past, I came up short. I lost.
That haunting reality lived inside my head like a disease. And the absolute last thing I wanted to do upon making my grand return to SCW was to immediately step back onto a trail that had made me so miserable, so defeated, and so profoundly unhappy in my previous life.
But then I took a step back, looked at the calendar, and reminded myself of one undeniable fact...
This isn't then.
This is NOW. This is Rise to Greatness.
THIS is the exact stage I came back for!
This wasn't JUST an opportunity to throw hands with a Frost proxy or a legacy gatekeeper again. This wasn't JUST about trying to crack the code of those cold, arrogant, chilly bitches once and for all.
This was MY moment to step into the spotlight and silence every single critic who ever doubted my endurance. It was my moment to silence every keyboard warrior on the internet who claimed I didn't have what it takes to carry this company. And most importantly... It was my moment to permanently silence the dark, agonizing inner monologue that has been screaming in the back of my brain for years!
To reach that ultimate point of catharsis, I have to go through one of the longest-standing legends in the entire history of SCW... Dawn Lohan. And let's get one thing straight right now... I am not stepping into the ring with the prime, hungry, OG version of Dawn Lohan. No, I am stepping into the ring with the modern iteration. The pathetic version who has spent the last several months panhandling her way through the front office, whining to anyone with a shred of corporate authority, desperately trying to get herself somehow politically slotted into title contention because she can no longer deliver the goods inside the squared circle. This is a Dawn Lohan who can no longer EARN her way into a modicum of respect from the locker room, so she has to beg, plead, and manipulate for opportunities she DOES NOT deserve.
And thankfully... CHBK saw right through the pathetic facade.
He didn't like her political games any more than I did. He saw a washed-up veteran trying to manipulate the system, so he decided to even the playing field. He let me put pen to paper, threw me directly into her path, and locked in a heavy, inescapable stipulation to ensure that there would be nowhere for her to run.
Kirsten pauses, a slow, razor-sharp smirk spreading across her face as her eyes lock dead into the camera lens.
For now...
You see, Dawn... The entire world sees exactly what you've been trying to pull here.
The locker room sees it. The fans in the arena see it. We all watch you desperately trying to weasel your way into a championship match that you have about as much legitimate right to as I do to the Ark of the Covenant! Hell... While you were backstage politically politicking and begging for handouts, I have been out in that ring busting my absolute ass. I am stepping up to fight TWICE in a single night at Rise to Greatness, against four different women, without batting an eye or shedding a single tear of hesitation.
So when that bell rings for our match, and you and I finally stand face to face... I want you to understand something very clearly. I do not give a damn how tough, rugged, or butch you think you are... I am leading this damn dance! You will fight at MY pace. You will breathe when I ALLOW you to breathe. And you will fall to your knees and lose the exact second I decide it is time for your night to end. Because while I am not here to obsessively reshape my past, I am fully prepared to violently define my future by ensuring this comeback stays on the right track.
And that means Scarlet and I are going to make a graphic, brutal EXAMPLE out of The Vision earlier in the evening... And then I am going to step right back through those curtain ropes, walk into that ring, and show you firsthand that I am not the nostalgic, vulnerable Kirsten Scott you might remember from the history books.
Instead... You are looking at a CHAMPION IN WAITING.
A woman who is going to use your broken body as a stepping stone, destroy everything you stand for, and take her rightful place at the absolute top of SCW! And a woman who loves to bring others into her light because then it's a guarantee theirs goes DARK!
