The Glass Cathedral

APOSTASY CHAPTER 10: THE GLASS CATHEDRAL

High above the burning foyer, inside the soundproofed inner sanctum of The Prophets, a grand floor-to-ceiling observation window overlooked the chaotic estate below. The room was one of the few places inside The Compound that had withstood the rotting wear and tear of time. It was a space defined by obsessive, unsettling symmetry, pristine white marble floors, sharp geometric archways, and dark obsidian pillars. It was a room Kirsten Scott had once feared above all else, as being summoned to its center meant someone was about to be removed from The Compound under her cold, ruthless authority.

Inside this "safe house," the Male and Female Prophets stood near the observation glass, watching the chaos unfold below with maniacal, delusional smiles.

They genuinely believed the commotion downstairs was merely a temporary security breach, a minor hiccup before their coffers were once again filled to the brim with the endless wealth of their patrons. They believed the myth of their divine supremacy was unbreakable, untouchable, and absolute.

But suddenly, a heavy, violent knock rattled the thick mahogany door of the sanctum.

Both Prophets turned, their smiles faltering into deep confusion. Their eyes looked at one another with confusion. Neither was expecting company. The Male Prophet smoothed his white linen robes, stepping forward with an arrogant, condescending smirk to open the door.

He didn't get the chance to turn the handle.

The heavy mahogany door exploded inward as Kirsten brought her combat boot down directly over the lock mechanism. The door slammed violently into the Male Prophet's face, breaking his nose with a loud crack and sending him sprawling backward onto the polished marble floor in a spray of blood.

Kirsten and Hailey stepped into the sanctum, their athletic tape blackened with ash, their non-lethal weapons held at the ready.

Kirsten Scott: Looks like your prodigal daughter has finally come home, doesn't it?

The Male Prophet scrambled to his feet, wiping a smear of dark crimson from his upper lip. He stumbled back beside the Female Prophet, both of them reflexively falling into their practiced, haunting posture.

They began to speak in their overly rehearsed, synchronized harmony, attempting to weave their voices into a hypnotic cadence to maintain the illusion of spiritual control and authority.

The Prophets: You are lost, Kirsten... You cannot burn what is ordained by the heavens... You are merely the weapon we forged, and a weapon cannot strike its master...

They did not get to finish their sentence.

Hailey surged forward like an untamed storm, completely ignoring their mystical cadence. She grabbed the Male Prophet by the throat of his silk robe and slammed him violently against the obsidian pillar behind him. The back of his skull hit the stone with a sickening thud, cutting off his air instantly.

Before the Female Prophet could scream or interfere, Hailey unholstered a high-voltage stun baton and jammed the glowing contacts directly beneath the Male Prophet's chin.

Hailey Brooks: My God when did they decide they were going to speak like Star Wars characters left on the damn floor?

Kirsten Scott: You see what I had to put up with?

Hailey Brooks: You're more patient than me...

Kirsten Scott: Yes, I think we can both see that, right about now...

Hailey smirked. She did not thumb the trigger to deliver a full shock, not yet. But she held the active arc less than a millimeter from his skin. The terrifying, violet crackle of electricity snapped against his jawline, the intense heat of the arc scorching his skin and filling the room with the sharp smell of ozone.

The Male Prophet went completely rigid, his eyes wide with pathetic, unadulterated terror as tears spilled down his cheeks. The divine, untouchable aura of the Prophets shattered into dust in a single second.

Downstairs, the remaining patrons who had cleared the smoke began to look up through the grand observation glass of the sanctum. They gasped in horror as they caught clear, unobstructed glimpses of their holy leaders being systematically manhandled, cornered, and humiliated by two women covered in soot and blood.

While Hailey held the Male Prophet pinned against the pillar, Kirsten walked straight to the room's central terminal, an ancient, highly customized computer mainframe that controlled the estate's entire secure network. Kirsten didn't hesitate. Her fingers flew across the mechanical keyboard with practiced, terrifying speed, bypassing the encryption layers she had helped build a lifetime ago. She plugged her secure flash drive into the primary port, executing a forced network dump.

In an instant, Kirsten bypassed every firewall in the system. She pulled up the raw, unedited financial ledgers: the digital records of their offshore shell companies, the paper trails of systemic extortion, the list of bribed officials, and the sickening fraud schemes that proved the cult was completely bankrupt and leeching off its donors like a parasite. She didn't just copy the data to her drive. She routed the live feed directly into the estate's main media broadcast, projecting the financial fraud, private communications, and bank records onto every screen, monitor, and smart terminal across the entire Compound.

Downstairs, the wealthy patrons stared up at the displays in stunned, furious silence. The grand lie was laid bare for the entire world to see.

Kirsten pulled the flash drive from the terminal, slipping it securely into her tactical vest. She turned to look at the Female Prophet, who was cowering against the wall, her hands trembling uncontrollably as her empire crumbled around her feet.

Kirsten leaned in close, her voice dropping into a razor-thin whisper that sealed their fate forever.

Kirsten Scott: Your gods aren't coming to save you... And neither is the money...

Kirsten turned her back on them, giving Hailey a crisp nod. It was time to grab Emma, collect her parents, and walk out of the ashes for good. But before leaving, it was Kirsten's turn to get one final moment of sickening retribution. She walked up too the female Prophet, and without hesitation just jabs her cattle prod into her side and lights it up. The screams bring a devious smile to her face, as years of torment and villainy become nothing more than a whimpering and pathetic human being.

PROMO

Needless to say, as the old sayings go...

Dawn... You're scared speechless...

Dawn... You are cowering in silence...

And this one is my absolute favorite... Dawn... Your silence is consent!

Ever since Breakdown, where you did everything in your absolute power to puff your titties out and make a pathetic, loud-mouthed scene about why you deserved something that, quite honestly, you made up in your own delusional mind, you have done nothing but retreat straight back into the dark shadows.

I mean, let's actually take a step back and examine the timeline here! You lose to Deanna, effectively disappear off the face of God's Green Earth, and then decide to play this little game of Jack-in-the-Box where you spring up out of nowhere when you think nobody is paying attention. Then, you have the absolute audacity to claim you deserve an immediate title shot? You were AWOL for God knows how long, leaving this locker room behind, and you actually expected a corporate reward for running away?

Thankfully, in SCW, there are much brighter minds than a woman whose name only represents a very dim light...

See, CHBK said it himself. He wasn't happy with your little antics. He wasn't happy with how you thrust your ass into a place it no longer belonged, demanding things that were no longer anywhere within your field of vision. So he decided to make your life an absolute living hell. He threw someone right in the middle of your grand plans, knowing damn well it would throw your entire, manufactured world into chaos...

And as we all know... That bitch is ME!

So I came out here guns blazing. I came out here fully expecting to see the exact same fire, noise, and unearned angst you brought on Breakdown. I expected you to be clawing at the bit to SHOW THE WORLD that you belonged in this moment, in this limelight. But like I said right at the start... All we have received from you is deafening, pathetic, coward's silence.

Now, let me be completely honest with you. You could try to play the old "spin it around on Kirsten" game. You could sit back in your locker room, look in the mirror, and try to convince yourself that "silence is golden," or that "it's just the calm before the storm." But we both know the reality of the situation, don't we? We both know you are suffering in silence!

We both know you are frantically struggling to figure out your next move because your entire playbook was thrown into the trash the second my name was signed to the contract. You are completely, utterly lost because you genuinely believed you had secured a Disney FastPass straight to the front of the line! Then along comes ME to trip you up as you try to skip the ride, throwing you right back onto the hard ground on the correct side of the queue with all the other normies who accept that they actually have to wait their damn turn!

Believe me, I am one of them, too... The difference is I put in the work. I just had to make sure your little high horse and pedestal were smashed to pieces so you remembered where you belonged as well.

I expected my return and my inclusion in this match to piss you off. I expected you to come out here, loud, obnoxious, and in everyone's face as always, ready to let me know what a massive mistake I made by stepping into your path. Yet, week after week, we get nothing from you. And that silence tells me everything I need to know about who you are right now. It tells me where your mind is truly at. It tells me how terrified you are now that your grand master plan has come crashing down around your feet, leaving you completely clueless on how to pivot. It tells me you aren't the same Dawn Lohan who made such a splash and built a legacy for herself in SCW all those years ago.

You are a hollow shell of that woman. You were desperate for a free ride to the top, and the second that free ride got canceled, you didn't have the mental capacity to adapt. And when I made it crystal clear that I was coming for what you mistakenly believed was your personal property... When I made it known that I would ultimately become the next Adrenaline Champion... It farted so hard in your Cheerios that mommy didn't even know how to fix it!

Because Dawn, I want you to understand something very, very clearly...

I am NOT who I was a couple of years ago!

I am not someone you can easily study film on or prepare for, because I change my attack strategy every single time I feel someone might have me figured out. I do things my own way, and I don't even bother worrying about whether it makes rational sense to outsiders or not, because I KNOW deep down in my bones that it works.

It's the exact reason why I opened myself up to competing in multiple matches at *Rise to Greatness* of all nights! It's why I was willing to spread my workload further than I ever have before in my entire career. Because while that level of relentless violence might seem counterintuitive to a normal individual, it IS the absolute right move for me.

That's why Scarlet and I will shut The Vision down in match number one...

And that's why I will then walk back out into that arena AGAIN, stare you dead in the eyes, and take something that was NEVER yours to begin with!

This Adrenaline Championship match means the entire world to me, and all I have to do to secure my destiny is bum-rush your ass, steamroll straight through your defense, and shut you the FUCK up... Well, even more so than you already are. Because if you truly deserved this spot like you claimed at Breakdown, you wouldn't be hiding like an apparition right now. You are just a whining, spoiled baby who tried to bully her way to the top... Only for the dimly lit dimwit to realize there was someONE standing right in front of her, ready to make her entire world go DARK!
